Relocating and they are lowering OTE

So I’m thinking about relocating with this whole remote thing we have going on and the company has said that if you relocate to an area with lower cost of living it would affect pay.

My question is, how does this make sense for salespeople? My quota and $$$ I bring in will be the same as either location so why should my variable be affected?

I could be missing something but I’m confused for sure so would appreciate any opinions

That said, have you had a conversation with your leadership on why? Why does it matter where I live if I am producing?

What @closedwon said.  Company is thinking about themselves, bottom line.  Cost of living is lower, which means that your market value probably decreases with where you move.  Try to get a sense for OTE of other salespeople in the area you're trying to move.  If it's equal to where you're at now, you have a great case.  If it's lower, at least make sure you get on par with that versus it getting lowered further than that.
