Relocation - Where are you going?

If you could relocate anywhere for work and/or get to choose your territory, where would you go/choose?

Would you make this choice out of personal preference, or because it would boost your career?

I'd relocate to the LA area, mainly because I'd love to live there, but the majority of my clients are down there as well, which would make my job significantly easier.

Obvious answer is the bedroom of @paddy

Second choice is Miami. I was made for the beach. Plus I'd get to live under Desantis bae.

Third choice is San Diego but I would need a sick comp plan because that place is like me...beautiful and expensive.

Yeah, sounds like you're currently in the wrong country, Coupo.

I was thinking that the WR should pitch together to commission a  Kahlua bed for y'all's wedding gift. Like a water bed.. but Kahlua.

Fucking tell me about it. Yr girl needs that visa because I love the USA 🇺🇸

That would be a good gift. Just need to make sure p-dawg keeps the lit cigarettes and his weapons of torture away from it. A Kahlua bed bursting all over the floor would be a bitch and half to clean up.

San Diego is actually affordable compared to the Bay Area lol. I've been thinking about buying a house down there in a couple years. A lot of my friends moved there after college. But I love the redwoods and mountains of NorCal so I'm torn.

The only negative about SD is the traffic. Heat wave? Still only 85. Rain? Barely. Sunshine, beaches, and tacos? All day. They have some of the best beaches California has to offer and the general vibe is on point - people have that laidback California beach vibe.

I live in NYC right now. This one is going to be a wild card, but hear me out: Cincinnati, Ohio

All the amenities of a big city (sports teams, concerts, international airport etc.), but with less traffic and a MUCH more reasonable cost of living. And assuming I keep my NYC salary I'll be living large.

Within 5 hours driving of like 6 other major cities (Nashville, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Cleveland, Chicago, Indianapolis)

Incredible hiking nearby. Red River Gorge and Hocking Hills only a short distance away. More breweries than I could ever visit. Massive park system.

Skyline Chili.

Although I'd be dishonest if I didn't include any cons. Here are a few: Lack of public transportation, political divide, historically slow to make changes, weather isn't great, pollution in the Ohio River.

See I've heard this take before and I can get behind it - lots of opportunities there it sounds like too; just had a buddy move out there. It's a little too flat for me and the nature would be quite lackluster after coming from Oregon. And it's... Ohio. But hey, I respect your case.

The Ohio River has only historically caught on fire...a bunch.

I can't take Cincinnati seriously because of The Good Place.

I had never heard this before so I just googled it. It looks like the Cuyohoga River in Cleveland caught on fire multiple times, not the Ohio river. The Good Place is great so I highly respect that haha

Okay, I need to revisit Denver because I didn't have enough time to really soak it in. I went to Red Rocks for a concert and made a mini trip out of it.

Having an international airport, ALL major sports teams, a thriving downtown AND jaw dropping world class scenery and nature an hour away is just incredible. I'm just so tied to the ocean.

So many people from the coastal states (I am as well) say that about the ocean. Unless you’re there multiple times a month, I would say airplanes exist. Denver also has a good bar scene, wildly underrated food scene, 300 days of sunshine and legal weed.

Oh yeah, I'm totally going to wait for that. I still have another 2 years in the Bay before I seriously think about moving. I was aiming to buy a condo here next year, but I could buy a house in Denver for a couple 100k more so its hard to pass that up and its not like you're "settling" by living in Denver.

When are you moving back?

Ahh, the quaint fishing town of Boston.  Sheltered New Englanders think it's a big bustling metropolis of global importance.  It's kinda cute really, but also misguided.  Misguided but cute.

Also, what the FUCK is going on with Boston Ubers?

Proximity to Tahoe is a major bonus, but I think I'd prefer 1 hour beach access and Tahoe 3-4 hours away. Even from Sac its still 2ish hours to Tahoe. As long as you get beyond Tracy before rush hour, you're fine.

New job offer expiring tonight, still waiting on a counter offer from my current company. What’s the move?

Question

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldn’t be in for very long. They’re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now I’m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldn’t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.
