Remote onboarding

Hey Sales Savages,

First post here- apologies if this thread has already been created.

I recently started a new job selling a more technical product than my last company. This is the first time I've gone through a virtual onboarding process.

Any recommendations or best practices for getting through the long list of onboarding items, trainings, and modules and actually retaining the information in the process?

I just went through a similar situation. I find it's best to overcommunicate in a remote environment, but make sure to round robin your questions. Don't want to bombard one particular person.

Additionally, ask for as much content as possible and then memorize as much as possible

If trainings are on video usually they are in the cloud which means they can be sped up. Even pushing a video from 1x to 1.2 or 1.3x can save a TON of time onboarding

This is so money. Just double check and found that you can speed up the videos. Appreciate it!

Solid advice in this thread.  Remember, it is their job to bring you up to speed - it is NOT your job to be super human to accomplish it.  If that is what is expected, it is also a foreshadow of things to come...

Try to ask as many questions as possible. Ask the important ones to different people. Consume as much content as possible concerning the product. Imagine yourself explaining it to friends/family and prospects. Keep doing this until the product is second nature.

Keep asking questions - but also try and get some extra time in with other people than the ones onboarding you. Identify the top performers straight away and ask them for some time. This will speed up your onboarding time significantly.

Ask questions and take solid notes. I don't know many people who can recall everything they learned throughout the onboarding process, but jot down the important stuff and don't feel uncomfortable asking questions.
