From a hiring standpoint, if I'm looking for people on my own and their resume isn't up to date, that's fine as long as it's been updated within the last few years. I'm just looking for the jist of who you are at this point and can ask for an updated resume later if I'm interested in reaching out.
However, if someone is actively applying to a position of mine with a resume that hasn't been updated, that's a red flag. Shows laziness and I now question how serious you are in your interest.ย

I try and keep it up to date, once I've been in a position for a few months I'll add it to the resume.
