RevOps... Role, mindset, or too much control?

The latest trend in sales seems to be "RevOps"

  • But, seems to be more about one person with a control issue rather than driving new business or even additional revenue for that matter..

Its always been around. It's just absolute alignment on company goals with everyone rowing in the same direction... But, now its just another cool shiny new title that VC's like to throw money at lol

Anyone have experience with a solid "RevOps" leader in their org??

Yes. We have a revenue operations person who has been doing it for 5 or so years. We have no idea what he does because he’s always working behind the scenes but yeah more companies seem to be loving this role

In every role too 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ especially in sales… pretty obvious what your strategy is when your org has 25 VP of Sales 🤣 or the new “strategic account executive”

Sighhhh. You’re in sales then your job is to go pump up the companies revenue. Do the job and get after it each day

Yes and no. When they’re aligned and take ownership - they are your best friend. When they’re not, they become harder to sell to than the customer itself 😅

yeah kinda... recently, I've seen organizations just lean on one person and end up just having someone to blame instead of the org just owning it together.

"  they become harder to sell to than the customer itself 😅  "

Soo much fluff in a lot of organizations not adding any real value. Bullshit jobs are a plague in the corporate world.

We just started with one, added her a few weeks back, so far seems like a useful role, but would love to pair her up with some more resources if anyone has someone who they know could be a great mentor!

How would you interpret the role of SDR Team Lead on a Resume? Would you view it as a managing role?
