Rewarding Sales Champion in the team

Hey savages!

I need to pick up your brain on one topic๐Ÿ™

In my team I have got a new recruit which has been totally smashing it in last two quarters.

Due to our bonus structure, he gets to qualify for partial annual bonus as he has joined after the Q1 started.

I have my CFO trying to save up on extra rewards, but this guy is clearly one of a kind, not an average rep.

I am thinking of surprising him and giving him an extra holiday bonus for summer. I want to appreciate his work and motivate him beyond the employment agreement terms.

whatโ€™d by your advise in this situation?

Are you his manager? Do you have budget authority to write a bonus? Or is this money out of your pocket?

I am his manager and I do have the bonus budget, but this allowance is something I need further approval for. However I think its totally worth it.ย

Make the business case and sell that right to the CFO. Make sure it points out value to the company and results driven.

In this case, I'd ask for approval for this allowance. Just like in any sale, the worst thing they can say is no and maybe have a good rebuttal ready if you're willing to put up a fight.

Go for it. I think sales talent is at an all time premium if they are crushing it quarter and quarter definitely motivate them to keep it up and possibly even work harder.

Whats ur roll? if ur a manager there are a number of different incentives available to you id imagine but honestly find out what the reps drive is and cater a bonus to that. maybe hes a gamer and you buy him a new gaming laptop or something to that effect

Very good point of view, thanks! Heโ€™s been very excited recently about his summer holidays, thatโ€™s why I thought of making it even more special for him via extra allowance

Will an extra holiday bonus click with the guy? Sorry for the Sinek vibe but ask him his WHY. If you can help him to improve towards his why. Thatยดs something heยดll remember.

Otherwise an extra holiday bonus is always nice :)

If you feel it is right and want to encourage good behavior than by all means go for it. And it wonโ€™t rub the CFO the wrong way

Idea itself is great! However, as also other folks advised, I'd rather do a bit of a digging in your team member's hobbies, areas of interest etc. For picking the best fit reward.ย

Absolutely add them. Eventually the deals you report will be put into a beautiful portfolio with stats etc (we are building it right now.)
