Road warriors - have you missed it?

just watched an entire glass of red wine spill on the lap of the passenger in front of me. Slid right off the crooked half folded table. Khakis? Ruined.

It.Was.Glorious.

Sitting at home, I dont get to see these sights. Can only share so many stories about the tchotchkes in my background. These are the gems I share as ice breakers.

Still don't feel comfortable out - candidly less so than 2 months ago - but it does feel good to be a human again.

Anyone else feel the same?

I miss conferences. It’s where I drink and have fun. Also, I’ve always made more deals face to face than with emails and phone. Something about me being there, getting em loose and having a good time helps me seal the deal.

I can legit come home with 20 NDA’s at a weekend destination conference. That’ll produce a deal. It takes me a month to do that w prospecting.

I'm headed to one in Austin in October and I don't know if it's gonna transition to a webinar by then. If it does, I'm not attending.

@GrizzleMcThornBodythe one I'm going to in October is in Houston. Texas was doing so well when we committed, but it seems a little dicey these days.

The webinar ones have been so useless in my experience.

Back in the air today…Four states over for a lunch.

Takeaway: I’m getting follow up meetings left and right by saying I’ll meet in person. At 0% closing rate on the phone over the last two months. Have 4 that could close in the next 8 days in person.

Could it be that my phone closing skills need work? Absolutely. But majority of my competition is local to these folks, and they meet in person. I’m in an old industry.

I started my career in a consulting field where we travelled weekly. It wasn’t glamorous, it was oil and gas, so we found ourselves at many a local pub and Texas roadhouses. After switching to sales, I’ve always been in an inside position with remote territories. I miss traveling and my goal is to be a field rep!

I just miss people, nice dinners, laughing. Being away from my kids and fam sucks sometimes, but having a little alone and human time is also nice.

I miss traveling so badly. I even miss flights, you guys. Meeting via Teams/Zoom just does not give you that same connection as meeting in person does… you lose out on so many body cues, random jokes that suddenly become inside jokes with your prospect, and especially tossing a few drinks back and having some real conversations; getting to know them. I miss it!!!
