Role Playing

I know a lot of sales leaders will role play with newer reps, which is great.

I have been in sales for a long time but I will still grab my VP of sales before a big meeting or demo to run through some possible objections that may arise.

Anyone else?

Do you role play with your team?

Skip the niceties and get to the point yes. I can't deal with the fakeness. It's not helpful.

If you don't I think teams are missing out. It's one of the best ways to perfect your cold calling, and increase team conversion rates over the phone.

What are your thoughts for in-person meetings, more for the close?

I think roleplaying is ideal in all aspects of the process. I just only have experience from the SDR perspective as I'm still early in my career, so I wouldn't have much valuable input...especially since most of the time I've been working in this role, everything has been remote.

I am happy to hear what others may think about roleplaying in person meetings for the close though. I'll hopefully be there at somepoint in the future so any insight is appreciated!

I used to dread them early in my career. I’ve now come to see the benefits and I have fun while doing it. We also record our role playing sessions and put them as game tapes for everyone to checkout

You need to be good at roleplaying in order to nail a cold call. I can't imagine learning the ropes without doing it.

Thankfully I started my career as an actor and so role playing is second nature. It’s also a vital component to working out the bugs.

Brother, I role play everything - typically with myself.  Before any conversation, I run through the scenarios that could occur and prepare.  It is the only way to roll.

That is actually really interesting. I would love to hear my co-workers feedback on my negotiations, demos, etc.
