SaaS Sales Training

what's up sales savages. starting a new mid market role for a product management SaaS business in early November. taking October to relax before starting but I'm playing around with the idea of being somewhat productive. has anyone taken a self serve SaaS Sales boot camp or trainings thats been productive? my instagram gets flooded constantly with "gurus" but I'm always hesitant. would love to hear from my fellow peers to see if anyone has found value from any course they taken.

My personal take on the courses / books / gurus - you always have to take their teachings or even their courses out of context and put your product / service that you're selling into context.

Their coaching would be meaningless if you can't derive the crux and relate it to your product. The ideal teachings lie just there.

This has been asked a lot of times.

Please don’t pay for anything, as you can basically find everything you need for free or super cheap.

Suggested sources: LI, YouTube, podcasts, books through Scribd or Audible/Amazon etc.

If you want to spend money I’m sure @CuriousFox will gladly let you make deposits to get Venmo 😂

@CuriousFox take my money.

@nomdeguerre — I appreciate the feedback. Any recommended YouTube channels or books? I like 30 minutes to press club and I’ve read Sandler.

You’re welcome.

In terms of content John Barrows is the man. I also really like Keenan’s Gap Selling. Also, Aaron Ross’ Predictable Revenue. For other recommendations just use the search bar. There have been a lot of posts about this.

I’m not a fan of Sandler though. Super old and outdated IMO.

Aren't all of em a bit outdated though? 🤔

Hmmm, I guess by nature they are outdated the minute they get published. Although, Sandler was written in like the 1950s or something, at least not everything is that old ;-)

Have you sold tech before? SaaS is a delivery model for tech, and pricing is on subscription basis.

So it's sales - what does your solution provide that's of value, and how do you tie that back into what the customer is trying to resolve? Understand your ICP and your benefits/ROI, shadow your top reps when you start, absorb your value props and effective strategies, and you'll be fine.

can't believe no one's mentioned Aspireship. If you're new to sales great- their course is on SaaS Sales Fundamentals. It might be too elementary for you if you already have sales experience. But I used their course to upskill from no exp to getting my first sales job at a SaaS company about a year ago. It's self-serve, self-paced like you mentioned and can be completed in 4 weeks part time. Just search for Aspireship sales course

I haven't but a lot of my network has and has not felt that it gave them sufficient value for the costs. That being said, curious to hear about your experience if you go that route

id look in the search bar this topic gets talked about alot.

I think what is most important if for AEs to have a process they can follow and methodology for handling conversations.

if you dont feel like you have something that works then I would read Gap Selling, the Challenger sale or books of the like.

I would NOT pay these gurus to teach you. especially if you are in between jobs. the best thing to do, is take an idea, and refine it, and go out and practice it and then refine it and practice it. hard to do that if your not active in a role.

I just received training on what was necessary from my company. SaaS was basically the same thing as far as process is concern, just waaay more condensed.
