Deal Story

SaaSam closed a deal for $500k to the Operations department

This one came to me as a referral from another one of my clients. With newly gathered hedgefund money and itching to spend it they came to us looking at doing about 250k to start. After about a month and a half of negotiating over email and various zoom calls coupled with a drawn out red line process we finally closed 'er down for double at 500k.

Not too much to tell, full cycle this one was about 6 weeks. Most of that was spent going over redlines. A few of them were a definite no on our end, whereas a decent amount of the others didn't really change the landscape for us so we relented. I'm pretty sure the guy doing the redlines was just seeing what he could get away with.

When I deal with referrals from existing clients my cycle is anywhere from 50% to 75% shorter.

Proof of Concept wasn't needed because of the mutual relationship with our existing client and their actual involvement in the deal from open to close.

In my business, reputation is more valuable than anything and will absolutely make or break a deal. Often times if someone doesn't know you and doesn't know someone who knows you there will be a pilot set up for a fraction of the total budget allocated. Assuming we deliver, which we always do, they open up the rest of the budget for us. Lucky for me, my biggest client is the thousand-pound gorilla so there aren't a lot of prospects that want to run a pilot.

Thanks! This was my first time dealing with a pain in the ass corporate lawyer redlining everything he could. In the end we didn't really give up any valuable ground so it was a win win.

love it! its so annoying with legal because as a salesperson i dont care at all about what we agree too. so i get to be the good cop and my legal team has to be the bad cop in these situation haha

Definitely, my favorite part was my CEO jumping on a zoom specifically to tell them we weren't going to budge on a specific redline. They essentially wanted an open ended cancellation clause that would have allowed them to change their mind and get a refund for whatever reason they could think of.

hahha!!! omg! i hate when companies are unrealistic like that.

Like WHY do you think a for profit business would allow you to just cancel when ever AND get your money back!!?!
