Sales and Dieting

I'm trying to get fit and lose the covid weight, and I've noticed a pattern - if I am absolutely gorging food and eating 24/7, I do fantastic. People want to talk to me, cold calls go great, deals get done.

Whenever I start "eating clean" and fixing my diet - I get hung up on, shooed off, almost like I'm a completely different guy - a guy who nobody wants to talk to.

I am by no means starving myself, I'm eating enough calories in healthy food on a not-extreme deficit.

I think I sound more energetic and enthusiastic - and somehow THAT is getting me hung up on.

Has anyone encountered the same thing, and if so - what is your fix that doesn't end with an early heart attack?

p.s I am pretty sure it's anxiety/stress eating, but aside from getting on prescription meds, I don't see a way out just yet.

Have you tried intermittent fasting? It has changed my level of cravings, stress, sleep, energy.  All the things a food restrictive diet alone could not do. Look at the 16:8 model of IF, thats what i do. Rough first couple weeks then easy breezy!

16:8 is easy during the workweek. But in the weekends I always screw up.

I get a keen focus on IF. Hungry wolves HUNT and other shit like that.
For real though, I do IF in week, kick it on the weekend. Vary my fasts, 16-18hrs is good, have done the odd 20 hr.
Cold brew coffee (straight up, no milk, etc) is your friend here - just don't overdo it lol.
and eat enough protein and fat when you do eat. carbs are like crack if you've fasted.

I'm big on planning/ batching out the week's meals (chicken/rice/veggies for lunch) on Sundays and making sure the only snacks I have around are nuts/berries.

This is also coming from a guy who bing drinks from 5:01 PM Friday Afternoon until 8:01 AM Monday Morning, so take it with a grain of salt.

You need to match the energy of your prospects...if you call and someone is quiet/low energy/slow paced you need to bring yourself near their level to successfully communicate and build rapport.

Are you sure you're not just in your own head about your diet and the perceived negative impacts? Starting a diet is tough, you're probably more testy and emotional even if you don't realize it.

Sounds like you're not getting your needs met somehow, and are turning to food as your main source of pleasure. I know because I've been there (AM there rn haha)

I hate to say it, but have you thought about therapy? Prescription meds aren't always the answer. Highly recommend DBT.

All that aside, intermittent fasting is great for this. Also, you're going to go through sugar/carb withdrawals. Know that in advance. Helps with the transition.

I lost weight by simply stopping alcohol during the pandemic, down 20lbs. just "keeping it out of the house"  Still have an occasional drank when I'm out for dinner or something but just not at home.
