Is it a bad idea to pay a small percentage to be paid my commission next check as opposed to end of the quarter?

An example - if paid commission at the end of the quarter and you need the money for a down payment on home or investment opportunity that might yield more than rate of receiving now. That my thinking, but if that's not the case, wouldn't do it.

Is this a commission advance? Is that what you are talking about?

Exactly, ever worthwhile? Or not valuable?

Yea, exactly. May make sense for active investors or SMB focused reps with lower OTE’s?

I’m not sure exactly what this set up is, but, you need to pay to get your money faster? Is this a payday loan thing?

Your company is supposed to pay you, not the other way around. I don’t understand this.

Nada. Never paying to get my own money. Feels illegal to even think about this.

Is this even an option at your company? I’ve never seen it before.

I wouldn’t do it.

I personally would never, unless I 100% need money now but I would probably pull from a savings account compared to losing money to get paid earlier

I’d love the money now but I wouldn’t pay for that privilege.

My guess is they hold on to the commission money make some interest off it.

i would never pay to have my own money.

i really cant think of a reason this would make sense.

what investment opp would be THAT critical that you would sacrifice your own money for it.

Depends on timing or commission payout, if paid quarterly and you can make 5-10% in 3 months, may make sense. What is the time value of your money?

Your employer charges you to get paid? Is that even legal?

Only if it’s absolutely needed, but I’d still be hesitant

My sales mentor told me..."You always want the NOW money not the TO COME money". This is even more important now in these inflationary days.

Never ever would i ever pay a company a percentage of ny earnings just to have it hit my bank account a month or two early. In fact i would never work at a company who even offered something like this. It’s predatory.

This sounds like a draw? If so, do not accept. I’m curious about the why behind this pay structure. I sell incentive comp automation software and have seen thousands of comp plans over the years and have a pretty good pulse on what’s good and bad.
