Sales/Covid life made me fat!

So over the last year with gyms and the office being on lock down, I gained like 30 lbs and it was absolutely draining my energy. Living the sedentary life of a BDR, not much walking or exercise was happening. TOTALLY MY FAULT NO EXCUSES! So I started doing something about it.

Over the past 5.5 weeks I changed my diet fanatically and lost about 40 lbs.

This may not sound the healthiest(I get all of the vitamins and nutrients I need through added supplements).

Just a victory because I haven't weighed this much in over 2 years and it feels great. It is giving me more energy at work and my productivity is going up!

Have you gained weight since Covid started?

I dropped quite a bit of weight.ย

Turns out restaurants, happy hours, bars, breweries, etc. make you put on weight. When I cut those out, I dropped 15-20 pounds.ย

Same here. I seem to have healthier habits not going to HHs and lunches with folks in the office (though I do miss those). I think it's given me a routine of working out before indulging.

I gained a little, but started intermittent fasting and now keto and I've dropped it and then some.

I lost a little bit of weight and then stayed stable at my goal weight. With everything closed and curfew, if we had no junk food in the house, it made it so easy not to binge. Oh you wants chips at 9:30? Well there's a curfew so you can't go buy them.ย

I've got about 15 to drop - gyms open again in two weeks after almost 15 months of inconsistent shutdowns.ย

I'm 5'8" and down to 230lbs. I can lose about another 20 and I will be pretty set.ย

I compete in a weight class sport, so before COVID I was sitting at about 87-89 kilos/190-196lbs. Soon as COVID hit my gym was shut down so I had to resort to running and bodyweight workouts. Also, couldn't eat trash for lunch every day when in the office. Today I sit at 78 kilos/172lbs. I haven't felt this good in years!

Thatโ€™s a lot of weight loss in a short period of time! What kind of diet did you adopt?

I have gone down to a little to no carb diet and due to some recent intolerance to most meats, I have become accidentally vegetarian. Which sucks because I love me some steak and I won an Outback Steakhouse gift card like a week after things changed for me hahaha.ย

I went from manual labor to a desk job, so that didn't help. Plus I got really anemic for two months so I couldn't exercise.

I did get lipo, though, and am now murdering it in the gym. I also started biking to work (Queens -> Manhattan). Took up rollerblading.ย

Turning it around with 12k steps daily and total of 2 plates a day which means indirect intermittent fasting.
I got a disc bulge from covid so weight training it out of the question so il focused on bodyweight training and machines 3x day a week and well as physio twice a week.

Yes. I gained a ton of weight.ย  To turn that around, I started running/working out again and eating a small breakfast, no snacks, no lunch, and a medium dinner.ย  Also cut all alcohol.ย  Starvation is key.ย  It sucks for the first 2-3 weeks, but now I'm rarely hungry.ย  I'm down 40lbs in the last 5 months or so.ย ย

It actually made me buy all of my gym shit for home workouts, not having to commute to the gym versus walking over to the next room really made it easy. I also started doing some lightweight intermittent fasting and generally just watching what I eat instead of just eating whatever makes me happy. So overall, my health got better over Covid, ironically โ€ฆ

Lost a few lbs. I always was a runner but would lift pretty hard as well, with no gym time to lift I just started running more. Lost about 10lbs and ran my first ultra marathon.ย

Used to workout frequently before Covid.ย

Gained a considerable belly thanks to Lockdown, beers and steak.ย

The best way to start working out is to get up, change your clothes to workout clothes, go to another room/outside or someplace else in the house. And just start with any home workout program.ย

We're used to changing environments and the effect it has on our moods and motivations. Just figured that out and boom.ย

More time to myself due to WFH, but found I became lazier which is the complete opposite to what I thought would happen. Office has opened back up now and my routine is already better!

gained a few lbs. I used to work out 5 days a week but after a few months of covid I lost all motivation. My fiance and I left NYC for a good month and stayed with her dad in Va and thats when I started working out again. The change of scenery from my apartment everyday really helped.ย

Congrats to you! There is a tik tok video that cracks me up about babies born in the pandemic have no actual friends. They just think they do because of their Reflection in stuff. Mirror baby friend. Oven reflection baby friend. Glass door baby friend. Lol meeting actual babies was a crazy day for these kiddos ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Luckily I live in Florida where things didn't completely shut down and we had a few friends that had babies around the same time. Needless to say, they have plenty of non-reflection friends. haha

Working from home definitely made it easier to snack throughout the day. I've been consistent with working out but the food has been a killer. Just need to have a little more self control!

Covid was the first year that I didnโ€™t do any sports. I used to do a lot of sports and lived in a city so I would walk everywhere. Now, Iโ€™m back home in the suburbs and driving everywhere. I gained 20 lbs but I plan to lose it all over the summer.

To the parents out there, how have you balanced your sales career with raising young children, especially during WFH in Covid? Do you feel more productive with WFH or less?
