Sales “Do Not Contact” List?

Do you have one at your org? How seriously do you take it? What puts a prospect or account on that list?

At my company, anyone who "unsubscribes" from our emails (since regulations require this as an option I guess) cannot be contacted for 2 years.

I have gotten many meetings from calling these folks off the record because I'm pretty sure no one remembers me a month after unsubscribing from marketing emails. At another company where I was an SDR, it was a free for all unless they complained to our sales leadership or a rep working that account requested they be added.

Curious what this process looks like in other orgs!

I have booked meeting forms DNC lists, but I do listen to the previous calls and emails to see why they requested it, sometimes the previous bdr did not do a good job and they were being annoying (I’ve done this as well at the start of my career) if that’s the only reason, I call, sometimes they remember the company but still agree to a meeting.

If anything, I feel like I can relate to them more, I wouldn't want emails from marketing too. Fair game.

We have one in our org (DNC flags in salesforce). Also a mandatory annual training on abiding by the DNC list, as well as adding unsubscribe and legal text to the footer of any outbound email. Does anybody internal take it seriously and comply? Not that I’ve seen.

I don’t take the DNC too seriously. People are usually only on it because someone caught them in a bad mood once or they unsubscribe from every marketing email as soon as it hits their inbox. I just prioritize the phone when contacting them and make sure if I send them an email it’s tailored well. It’s interesting how often people give you really good info when they ask to be put on the DNC. If you or the previous rep took good notes a lot of the time it will actually give you a good head start on the conversation. If I see multiple contacts though where they asked to be put on the DNC and it has been less than 12-18 months I’ll move on.

I’m not sure meat is the right gift to be sending puns along with soooo I would just say something concise and direct. “Thanks for being so collaborative during the cycle, have dinner on me” - something like that.
