Sales Leaders Would What You Prefer?

As a sales leader would you rather have an all-star rep bringing in 10 meetings delivered every month who was not a team player at all and only focused on himself without ever helping others or would you rather have a mediocre rep who produced 2-4 meetings a month but was always willing to help others, always had an amazing attitude and was extremely coachable?

Culture is by far the most important factor in any organization in the long run. There have been many stories where organization retained a person just because they were killing their goals but that 1 person affected the whole organization with bad energy.ย

I guess it's pretty straight forward what you asked in the poll. Like I guess would go for the coachable route. However, if I'm not planning to grow the team I can get the all star would be very helpful for startups where you neeed growth quickly.

That's a good point. If your team is super small maybe that all-star is the better fit

When some sales ops clown start telling me about "meetings" or "touches" or "taps" or "likes" or some such other type of KPI that is supposed to measure how good or bad my SDRs are, I like to say:

"That's interesting - you see I went to the bank yesterday and when I wanted to pay my mortgage with meetings, or touches, or taps, or likes, the Banker told me they only take money. Maybe my SDRs should be working to bring money into the business, ya think?"

Yes I'm being a smartass - but honestly, I have seen enough SDR teams blowing out meetings, yet meeting to opp conversion is in the toilet.

If you pay for A and ask for B, you will ALWAYS GET A.

Meaning - if you pay for meetings, but don't pay any different for meetings that lead to opps and sales, you will JUST GET MEETINGS.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
