"My trust must be earned" - worst tactic ever. All this will do it make people feel like you don't have faith in their ability. I've also found that people that say this tend to be the ones that micromanage.

Best tactic - "I trust you to do your job until I have a reason not to." I had a managing director that subscribed to this philosophy and the office culture was the best I had ever experienced. People were more motivated to try their best and ask questions where necessary.ย

Trust your team, and don't micromanage.

Until I have a reason not to hits home.ย  And yeah "my trust must be earned" is a narcissists management style.ย

Micromanagement hands down sucks.

Guide me. Teach me. Direct me towards the path you want then let me do my thing.

Micromanagers are the worst. Let me come to you for needs or questions but dont track me down for opp updates. ITS ON THE EXCEL SHEET.. which I hate doing.ย

Those mngr styles are dopeeee, valuable link man!ย  I'd say Selling and Participating would be preferred for my manager.ย ย
I'm one of those reps who needs a 'good job' now and then to not apply other places

Another angle to this is "did I learn anything from my Manager"? Looking back across 30 years I had 2 managers that taught me anything, the rest just collected data and ran robotic cycles.. Look for a manager or leader that helps you grow and remains a mentor. These leaders should push/pull you and test you but not micromanage.ย
