Sales Nav Dilemma

I'm in a very niche market with high turnover for my target POC's and ZoomInfo is just not cutting it. One of our teammates got Sales Nav and was able to find so many more POC's. The problem is the owner will not pay for Sales Nav for the team or reimburse any individuals. What do you do in this situation? Pay the $100 out of pocket per month and help out your sales bros? Create a fake LinkedIn account and split the $100 a month between the team?

The fact that the owner does not want to invest $100 a month for a tool that would benefit his company is a massive red flag! Now if you split that $100 into x and see a return of investment each month, I'd say go for it, it shows initiative and you can back up with numbers why it's necessary and maybe even get a refund from your boss if he is not a complete idiot.ย

Whatever happens, itโ€™s still a great story to tell during an interview!

100%. The worst part is I was told we would all have access (and everyone working already did) during the interview then as soon as the job starts theyโ€™re like we donโ€™t do sales Nav.ย

That can't be true! I can't believe this! Mayor red flag then!! I'd run away!

Been here. If it's worth it to you then just take it out of your commission check. Or each of you could take turns doing a free trial.

At this point it is worth it because I need the contacts. Iโ€™ve ran out of free trials at this point lol but good idea on the colleagues taking turns.ย

If you do pay for it, which is bullshit, but if you do - make sure to tell your boss that you are and that if you generate X leads in Y period of time, will he pay for it?

You better believe thatโ€™s the case

Hey, @JuicyKlay don't feel like I've seen you in a while. Good to see your name.

Is this the same guy who made you buy your own laptop?

I wish I could say I was surprised this ended up here. Iโ€™m good. Iโ€™ve been posting this everywhere recently but: Signifyd, NetSuite, BigCommerce, Attentive, etc., are all hiring.

I'd not pay out of your own pocket, i'd keep pressuring your boss to give you access but in more of a professional way. If you tell him/her that the majority of sales people use sales nav and it creates opps (and you are right it works well with zoom info for cross checking) they can then decide.ย

Build him a business case. If the impact indeed would be that big, it s a no brainer. If he says no -> major red flag.ย

Right now your way in is to use the "Hello I'm your new rep I'm coming to introduce myself on this date" or something along the lines of that.

Personalization is about understanding what your value prop actually means to the folks youโ€™re calling.
