I'm once again here to campaign for performance based compensation for Sales Ops so they have some fucking skin in the game when shit like this happens.

It would also be nice to sales ops people that actually have worked in sales. Technology shouldn't dictate process.

Haha. Typical. Now they'll send a 10-page long email and call it a "Process Issue".

Did they migrate from SFDC to another SFDC instance? Or did they migrate from one CRM to another?

There should be a way to recover (I hope).

I'm sorry. How frustrating.

We had been using contacts instead of leads and we switched to leads and in the process we lost all of it
butwhy

Leads are the dumbest thing that Salesforce has ever done. "Let's just have lots of abandoned, orphaned records floating around our database that have no default way of reporting in context to Accounts" I am so sorry, this is gonna be a painful reconciliation.

Funny, my last company had leads that converted into opportunities under account records. I'm now at a company that doesn't do that, but leverages contacts instead, and it's a mess. I prefer the first version (there's a way to tie them to an account, I swear!) over the second by a MILE, but I definitely wouldn't want to lose everything in a switch!

I think thats the bigger issue is switching. We all had it down one way and the switch screwed it all up

Your company had to manually create either a lookup field on the Lead that would connect to the account, or they had to look up the account every time the lead was converted to an Opp. It's insane.

omg ive been through this a few times. any time anyone messes with SFDC in a major way....its bound to cause massive problems haha.

i remember as an SDR we all got new lists and someone thought it would be a good idea to clean all the data, so any lists we had created were completely gone and couldnt see any previous notes. it was mayhem for like 3 days ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Mass system migrations never go smoothly. You're going to be operating in the dark for a bit. I would start bringing up quota relief with your superiors because this directly impacts your performance.
