๐Ÿค“ Sales Ops vs. Marketing ๐Ÿคก

Would love to get everyone else's horror stories but I think Sales Ops might be more useless than the Marketing dept!

My last 2 companies sales ops is really just a Salesforce Babysitter than does nothing to help. "Hey guys SFDC is down... working with their team to figure out whats wrong" DUHHH we know its down, we can't log in smh ๐Ÿ˜ค

Just needed to vent... where do y'all weigh in on this?

Marketing is by far the most useless to sales in most organizations. Not only are they useless, they're often a hinderance to creating rapport and getting deals closed. They often live in their own bubble with massive budgets that offer value to nobody except themselves when they get to pat each other on the back and schedule a White Claw break at 1 pm on a Monday because a "lead" came through "due" to their latest "campaign."

I guess most salespeople experience what you have. I haven't just yet but I am sure it is only a matter of time lol

That's hard. I don't like trashing any department. Usually it's the people that are useless, not the department. You can have a bad egg anywhere.

Well, since I run RevOps, I have my bias opinion here...but I will say that there are a lot of shitheads in our line of work out there who think their job is to put up roadblocks rather than helping salespeople improve their operational efficiency.

Fair enough. But which dept is more of a hindrance on a more consistent basisย

LMVAO...

Sales Ops is not needed unless you have 5 sales pods...

Sales Ops is basically outsourcing of the operational work of the Pod Leader to a person who is going to make sure the funnel has adequate levels of leads in every step and supplement leadgen where needed, make automations on the tools, etc..
It intereferes so much with the pod's work that it may even be detrimental if you don't have good rituals so that they only do what the pods really need.
