Sales Reps...pick your favorite and explain, if you dare!

If you're lucky as I was when I started my career in sales, there's a ton of people that can help you do a great job, other than your manager (though that didn't happen to me too often).

If you had to pick just one, which of these roles is the ones you would definitely say is a must in your strategy, and why?

Pick your top ally!

Tbh they're all on a scale between "fucking useless" and "worthless as tits on a bull" but I have to be nice to Sales Ops because they can fuck me the most. And not in the fun way.

well, if the bull doesn't perceive itself as a bull but rather a cow in the wrong body, then tits would be interesting...to the she/bull.

I'm with you. Sales ops was always my buddy.

I sell a technical product, I need my SE. I basically set next steps, keep things moving forward, and explain pricing lmao.

I used to sell databases, I couldn’t have done it without my SE!

one of the things that helped me the most beginning as a SDR/BDR was listening to my teammates talk on the phone. That's been the most valuable to me

None of these apply to me - but maybe they’re just different labels idk

I’d be dead without my account service teams. Sure, I might land a few, but I want to keep them.

I voted SDR/BDR. We do our own cold calling and appointment setting. So I am my own best ally

I am probably the one and only person in here who chose marketing. As an Inbound SDR for my very niche company, my boss-the Global Marketing Manager gives me alley oops. From there, I look like a Rockstar to my AEs who have no clue where I get these leads from haha.  So shoutout marketing for plugging me and keeping it hush hush!

Well, they all are failed salesmen, but...

BDM. A good partner program gets you all the others so the likelihood there's something good out there multiplies

I always find my sales support / solutions engineer / tech guy is always there on hand, more so than our actual sales director.

That always works, though your director should be more present!

If I could have my last manager back...I swear to God we'd close all the business.  I'd absolutely keep him in my tool belt if possible.  He stayed making sure I had fresh leads, he'd source them for me himself if need be, we were constantly bouncing good books off of one another, he'd jump in to help if I ever needed it but knew well enough to stay out of the way most of the time.  Really helped me sharpen my acumen.  All the afterwork beers didn't hurt either.  Great manager, great friend.

Honestly I think it depends on who is in  each role. I've had good experiences with marketing but then god awful experiences with Support.
