Sales Upskilling

I'm looking for good resources to sharpen my sales skills. What books, podcasts, or sales training do you recommend? I signed up for JB Sales recently and I am a member of Scotty's Little Sales Club on Patreon.

1000% agree with the qualified sales leader book... i have over 6 years of b2b sales, read that book this year, and IMO it's the magical playbook of SaaS sales.

The Audible Ready podcast by force management ties in VERY nicely with QSL.

so I think the big thing here is to not go too crazy.

Pick one or two paths (id say Scottys Little sales club if your already doing it, and 30 Min to Pres club podcast)

Then try to execute on the things mentioned.

less is more here.

pick one tactic to improve on, and improve it.

dont try to absorb so much info that you dont actually improve

^ exactly. This is the best advice you could have received on this thread.

The biggest pitfall is absorbing too much and not using or implementing anything you've learned.

Awesome! I’ll have to listen to 30MPC more. It’s really helpful :)

Hey, gonna level with you here as an SDR who's repeated the loop and didn't bridge the GAP to AE. If you're still <1 year at your company my suggestion is that sales skill is good, but getting exceptionally clear on your path to promotion for AE will do you better.

Spend time working internal politics to get yourself in the limelight, talk regularly with the right people, above and beyond, get noticed etc.

Sales skill will take you far, but almost #1 reason SDR's burn out in the long run is that promotion isn't given or career path isn't laid out.

Don't get churned out :)

That’s great advice! I’m trying to get a promotion rn but I was told to wait until promotion paths are made. Some other people got promoted without one though

Books:
- Never Split the Difference
- Gap Selling
- not sure what segment you're in as in SMB or what, but Addicted to the Process by Scott Leese is a fast, simple read

Podcasts
- Inside Selling, Josh Braun (honestly just follow his content on Linkedin. Has upped my game tremendously.

Read books, never stop reading.

But don't just read - take notes on how you can apply what you just read into your day to day.

Try it out. If it works, rinse and repeat.

The Way of the Wolf - Jordan Belfort - (prospecting/lead gen)
Influence - Robert Cialdini - (demo/presentation)
Never Split the Difference - Chris Voss (negotiate/close)
