Saving contact lists for next job?

What's your take on it? Okay to save contact lists from old employer for the next job? Assuming it's not direct competition but same target group?

Would you do it?

Absolutely, before the era of the CRM (sales force) reps had all their contacts in planners, business cards, and rolodexes.

I always enjoy when folks pull reports from CRMs and don’t realize that all CRMs track who pulls reports.

Are you saying it's a red flag when people pull reports or you genuinely enjoy when people pull reports? I could read it either way haha

I keep a spreadsheet (on my personal computer) of everyone I’ve spoken with who never bought but was a budget holder or 1 degree away from budget holder.

I keep in touch with them however I can (LinkedIn likes, IG (if the content isn’t too personal/public page) Twitter, etc) you never know where they might go in the future. Usually when they switch companies I’ll reach out more formally.

A top-performing colleague of mine's wife sells for a direct competitor. I am very much interested in how much sketchy information is shared between the two.

HUGE NO. You can get in major trouble for this. Had a buddy run a contact report that was saved and emailed to his personal. He wasn't leaving the co or anything he was just automating on his personal computer and they flipped.

You can, however, any personal relationships you made, carry over.

It really depends on your companies data policy and your signed work agreement. If it violates either of those then no.

I don't feel there is anything ethical problems with it.

You are given an account list with over 250 accounts (no salesforce, you have to work off an excel sheet), what steps/processes do you implement to ensure all accounts are being touched? How many do you target a week? Month? Etc.

To all the Account Executives out there! How many business development calls/emails do you do a day? (BE HONEST!)
