Is this deal too big?

Background : MM rep at a series B startup, great product confirmed use case yadda yadda. Deal sizes in my current mm cohort can exceed 300k annual license so likely a bit larger than your typical MM in my experience, leading to the below...

Issue : I'm rep 5 of now 9 split between MM and a strategic team and we have shakey at best rules of engagement on booking a disco into demo and opportunity for a deal that would exceed the MM size range stated above and being able to keep it under the condition of the account was on a predetermined list given to me by leadership to prospect into. We run open territories, no geography. I booked a demo/opp yesterday that would shatter the 300k annual figure listed above, and the account was on a list given to me by ownership to prospect into.

Context : I've only been with the company since January and my gut is telling me I'll be allowed to keep it but seeking advice on how to frame / handle my response should management say I need to push it up the chain to a strategic rep.

Don't ask for permission. Ask for forgiveness and play up the 'new guy' card and pretend like you didn't know any better and based on XYZ you were confident that this Opp belonged firmly in your pipe.
