Selling to crypto

does anyone have a major focus on selling to crypto wallets/exchanges and fintechs specifically?

if so how do you like it? what are the limitations? would you recommend it?

I got a thumb drive full of monkey jpgs. You look like a nice guy and it's the end of the year, I'll hook you up. Just send me your wallet address and tell me your mother's maiden name.

Have sold to fintechs not to any big exchanges in the crypto space (YET), but I got the fintech interested by telling them how I thought their platform was making the world a better place and then positioned my product as something that might be able to help (I was selling app development at the time) For either of these organizations though I think the best thing you can do is be familiar with their product and then position the thing you are selling as a way to make their product even better.

What is the context of the post? Are you looking to join a company that is selling to this sector, or do you have a solution you would want to pivot into the crypto/blockchain market?

The former, thanks for clearing that up!

Well, the major factor in making this industry work is anonymity through a secure yet trackable ledger. Inherently, solutions that focus on that segment of the industry will be highly valuable as we push into a decentralized future. Though fringe, it will still be a major tenant that will require bleeding-edge solutions.

Full disclosure, I'm an unabashed crypto skeptic, but I'd be wary about joining crypto related startups. Make sure you do a lot of diligence on their exec team, product, business plan, and financial health. I think there is going to be a lot of scams and unscrupulous people chasing "easy money". We've seen that with alt coins and I think now with VCs pouring money into crypto we'll see the same thing with companies. Getting rich quick isn't always the best strategy. When I first entered tech sales a lot candidates were applying from sub-prime lending companies. Sure they made money for a year or two but when the music stopped they had no where to go and were looked at as "toxic assets" themselves.

I'd join a company with a solution that can apply to the crypto/blockchain sector, but also has their hands in several other aspects of security and/or fintech.

Agreed with this. Fintech is a great space, but I'd feel better at a company who isn't all in on crypto.

@braintank this is a really good point. Except for this post, i would be selling fraud prevention, transaction monitoring and compliance to cryptos to try and combat the scams. Although i agree with some of ur points i think the regulatory technology will be long lasting

If it's something that can apply to all fintech, it's going to be the best of both worlds.   Making money from established players and bridging to new.    Are you deep in the interview process, or looking to start hustling the industry?

My company has sold into some of the biggest exchanges over the last three year. I've done around 3 deals myself in this vertical.

It's a great vertical to sell into - high ticket deals ($100k+ ARR) that can get done in 30-60 days. The teams are still quite lean when they buy our software so it's pretty easy to get to a yes or no fast. My quickest deal was $120k ARR in less than three weeks.

In terms of limitations, I wouldn't say there is much. Security can set things back sometimes, but for the most part, we always get it done.

Hope this helps.

Funny seeing all these anti-crypto BOOMERS in here lol in the next 10 years EVERYONE will own crypto, NFTs and the majority of how we pay for things will be on the blockchain via crypto.

SO to your question... GM! It's early! Get in

1) I'm not a boomer.

2) It isn't early. Crypto and blockchain have been around for over a decade and I still can't buy groceries or pay my taxes with it.

These things are nothing more than interesting technologies that do not solve meaningful problems.
