Selling to Sales People

Curious to hear from sales people selling to sales people.


Is it easier to navigate the sales process when dealing with a prospect who knows the game and speaks the same language or does it become a pissing contest to control the process and more difficult to deal with?

I sell to sales people and for the most part, I only encounter folks who are empathetic (we're all in the same boat kind) and it's fun.ย 

I do sometimes encounter folks who are like, "I am going to judge your skills and put you on the spot" which is cool with me. But doesn't make for a very good experience for either parties.

Yes and No.

itโ€™s great because youโ€™re dealing with a buyer who is engaging the process with familiarity.

that said, they often feel like they know it all.

Easier to sell if they already know they have a need. If you are cold calling them, itโ€™s MUCH harder.

I usually don't sell to the sales group, but I find that if I end up working with a prospect who has experience in sales, they seem to go out of their way to flex their sales muscles and try and negotiate even harder just to prove a point or something

Hustle respects hustle. In my last role I sold tech for sales teams. I can remember many times a VP saying they appreciated my persistence/closing technique/transparency. But at the same time they can sniff out you not giving it your all. If you do the right things it can actually be a lot easier since they walk in the same shoes you do.ย
