Series E Company: signing bonus + compensation + equity ask?

Received an offer from a company who locked up their valuation $1b. Solid base + OTE + benefits.


How do you approach negotiations? Base? Signing bonus? Equity? Instead of just arbitrary numbers, any equation to the above?

I think the main thing youโ€™ll be able to negotiate on will be salary and fringe benefits. Not heard of many getting a signing bonus unless itโ€™s covering equity.ย 


Equity is normally dependent on the level you go in at unless youโ€™re at very early stage.ย 

If youโ€™re going to negotiate on salary Iโ€™d get my facts and figures clear like target:salary ratio, average salary for this software/industryย 

if you donโ€™t have these then you wonโ€™t be negotiating from a position of strength and youโ€™ll be flying by the seat of your pants.ย
