Should I go study?

Hi,

I went into tech sales without an academic background. I learned hands on programming for 4 years, didn't enjoy it and turned into the sales side.

Started as a BDR and got promoted to AE at a ~1000 people analytics company. Today I am working as Enterprise Account Executive at a series A start up.

Do you think not having a degree will hurt me in my career at some point? Where I live they only offer full time degrees which makes it not very attractive to me.

Each company is different. If they offer tuition reimbursement wht not take a few classes and see how you like it?

Do you see yourself climbing up across the leadership role (I know many that doesn't want to hence asked). If yes, you might need a degree but there are many companies that also put you into a leadership courses and session in their partnered institute.

Possibly. Does the company have any form of tuition reimbursement?

if you’re on a good tract with the company you’re with, you may not have to worry at all.

Sales is a good place to play if you don't have a degree.  Not sure how much it will hurt you if you stay in sales.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
I think that would be completely useless for you. You're doing great without one.

It could hurt you at some point which is complete bs. You've clearly done amazing work without having a degree & like the other comments mention, you learn more from actually being in sales than going to school. I think it'll all depend on the company & position though & the right one won't care if you have a degree or not

Yes if you move to senior leadership it would be helpful to have a degree, possibly a masters. I see some enterprise AE positions that recomends a masters… for whatever reason.

I have learned far more in my career than I did in college. If you would like to take classes to be able to go to new positions with a degree, that is up to you. But the fact you have been continuously moving up and up without one, makes me think you will be juuuustt fine moving forward.
