Should I stay or should I go?

The first interview was with the hiring manager. It went well. The second interview was with the hiring manager, CEO, and SVP of Sales. It also went well as the CEO emailed me stating that they enjoyed speaking with me and that they will be in touch soon. Last week I had a 3rd interview with the CEO to discuss timeline and comp.

The conversation went well and I asked the CEO when I should expect to hear from them. He advised on Wednesday (7/23). I did not hear from him so I sent a follow-up email reiterating my interest in the role and why I would be a good fit. No reply.

I am confused because I have met the CEO several times at conferences and tradeshows. My old manager has a working relationship with him and advised that the CEO told him once that he wants to steal me away...

Have I been ghosted or am I overthinking this?

EOQ and the CEO's inbox is probably slammed, you did nothing wrong by showing and affirming your interest. They could be preparing the offer letter which also takes time usually. If you don't hear by next Tuesday it's then time to worry IMO.

4 days left until EOQ...I'd give the guy a bit of grace on this one. Takes a lot for a CEO to email YOU that they want you, so give them till EOD Monday and then send a polite poke.
