Question

Should newly joined AE be trained even on weekends?

Ramping up is essential especially making sure the AE hits the field quick and positive

But, doing those mock demos etc on weekends, is it a good stuff for a newly joined AE?

Won't it over pressurise?

If the new AE wants to do some studying over the weekend, he/she can go for it.ย  The company starting a relationship with "see you this weekend for mock demos" would have me slowly extending a middle finger and sets a terrible precedent for what is to come

I would legit stop an interview immediately if they ever mentioned this during the process.

This is the kind of place that would not tell you during interviews and drop it on your right after hire.ย ย

I would instantly quit if a company made me do that. I could only imagine what other terrible things happen there

Who the heck is requiring new people to work weekends? That's so dumb. Nothing sets your company off in the worst light more than wanting to overwork them right out the gate.

Wtf... if your company is making you work on weekends, leave. There are plenty of places that value work/life balance and still pay well.ย

Yes. But immediate jump can't get much too right? How do firms think about such a candidate

No way. Immediate red flag. How can you properly train when you're super hungover?

Anyone onboarding knows how intense it is with product and sales info, so doing anything other than looking over notes at the weekend will lead to burn out for most IMO.

Does anyone actually remember the bulk of their training from On-Boarding? In my experience it has always been drinking from a firehose until 7 or 8 months down the line when things start to click.

if the AE has the drive, the AE will reach out, at least they shouldย

Bad precedence setting.ย  Should never be required, or even suggested as optional.ย  Even suggestions from leaders carry the weight of commands.ย

If the AE makes the decision to do that it's fine. If the company is pushing them to do this that's a terrible thing to start with. You need that downtime or you burn out FAST.

From the perspective of the new AE, they might be wise to do some studying outside of the normal work hours, but if the company is setting this precedent from early on they'll lose people quickly in this job market.ย

It's your org's job to give ramp-up time. Even if you're being compensated, do not start into an org where you're already burying the boundary line.ย
