Signing an Exit Agreement

Hey all,

I just resigned from my organization and they requested that I sign an exit agreement, but I don't really see any value of signing it.

They sent my final check in the mail and my healthcare runs for the rest of the month so I don't really feel obligated to signing it because it doesn't help me in anyway.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Did you sign the exit agreement prior to departing your last organization?

I signed mine because it had a few lines about accelerators if I helped collect outstanding invoices. I was an AR god during that time lol.

This is a good reason to sign one.

Mine just stated that I returned all company assets (with the exception of the phone they let me keep) and that I agreed not to share the company confidential info I’d been privy to. It was completely acceptable.

It depends on the scenario. If there’s severance, it requires signing to get it. Otherwise, likely not.

What are they asking you to agree to?

Mine offered me 100 bucks to sign it but I declined. It was a big blanket NDA and non compete essentially and even went as far as to bar me from leveraging any relationships I had made while working for them.

Offering $100 sounds worse to me than asking you to sign for nothing. It's saying your secrecy is only worth $100

I have heard of it because the company is typically scared of a lawsuit... lol what did you do?

Don’t do it. Did it once while waiting on $30k of commission owed and never saw the commission.

Lol, young and dumb and thought that kind of money grew on trees at the time. Needless to say, I’ve learned my lesson.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
Don't sign it unless there is a benefit. There is definitely non-disparagement type stuff in there and you could get sued for violating.

What does this entail, it's brand new to me.

Nope, I only sent an "Email All" explaining how Spectrum Enterprise had been screwing all comped employees out of their 10% Ethernet bonus over the last two years. Court Case pending........
