SKOs

is there any real value to the sales team with these quarterly meetings or just an open invite to get shit faced with coworkers?

the value is creating SYNERGY!!!! and MOTIVATION! and other bullshit things that CxO's get off on.

no the real value is I get a free trip and free food and drinks and get to watch other ppl make an ass out of them self.

and i love it and dont take it away from me!

I prefer them online. No travel, and I can drink beer.

Some in person SKOs are better than others.

There's value in networking with your peers and sales directors of divisions you might want to move to, but I don't think that's what the company necessarily has in mind when they bring the org together.

I'm at a smaller company now, finally got to meet everyone in person, and that was really great. But I'm glad we only plan to meet 1X/year for now, as I greatly prefer the more efficient online meetings.

Hot Take: 99% of SKOs are huge wastes of time and money and would be better spent on smarter marketing and lead generation avenues

So you're saying the hot take is AE's would prefer more opportunities to close deals and get paid?!

+1. Just posted that few days back. The quarterly meetings at least for me hold no value.

You get to expense a bunch of food and drinks without having to do much. You can also position yourself for larger/better territories and protecting you value to the company.

I find SKOs are a waste. Management rarely provides useful analytics to what is actually happening and discussing ways to improve performance. It's mostly beating chests and highlighting successes from the last quarter without addressing what isn't working and how those areas will be improved.

I can see how at larger companies the networking is valuable since it's likely hard to meet everyone virtually.

Also, people making an ass of themselves is an added perk.

I don't think they really add that much value, but can be fun as hell.
