Software sales ➡️ extreme wealth

Path 1:
software sales (F500 or Large Company) (Remote) (live at home) (save all my money - no rent or food costs) (start business on the side and invest in Real Estate)

Path 2:

Managemnt Consulting ➡️ VC (live in a big city - high rent / food costs)

one offers a lot more opportunities down the line because of prestige but the other may offer a clearer path to saving and investing lots of $

One day you may realize that “extreme wealth” will have little to do with the money in your bank account…….

Tough one. With the market right now I want to stay home and save your money. But if you do want to start a biz and go the entrepreneurial route, the VC option will prob set you up for really great success. Might be worth the risk!

doesn't sounds like there's a bad choice.  With 20/20 past vision, I would probably lean toward the MC route simply because it opens more doors down the line.

I'm path #1. Software sales + investing in real estate + living at home. Guaranteed riches in due time provided consistency.

either way you can build a clear path to wealth. I would love to work for a VC personally. It sounds like a ton of fun. I prefer the stability of SaaS overall though so that's how I landed here.

Investment banker, VC, stock broker, etc have all always seemed like really cool jobs to me though.

If you can stand your parents and living at home, go with 1.

But both seem good.

Are you saying you’ll be managing portcos within a VC or is it a VC backed Management Consulting company?

Both can be good options but the former is likely a better platform for future opportunities.

MC is hard work but will give you skills to build/buy and operate your own business.

Sounds like you’re young if living at home so it’s hard to pick exactly what you think you want to do in the long run now so building skills and having options is important. Also don’t overlook who you’ll be working for - the manager/leaders. This is incredibly important to future success.

Whatever you do, being able to sell is critical for success so two good options IMO.

No, just a normal mgmt consulting firm think (MBB or a boutique) - same projects and work

I was saying after a stint in consulting going to work at a venture capital firm
