Its like a weird circle jerk cult where the prerequisite to promotion is who can make the most obnoxious Linkedin posts.

"OMG GONG is the best place to work"

"OMG GONG helped me hit Presidents club. I could never do that before"

"OMG GONG makes me love love love 3 hour cold call blitzes first thing in the morning"

I kid you not, these are legit quotes from Gong AEs on Linkedin.

Like wtf, have some humility and stop overcompensating for whatever is missing in your life.

I gotta admit, I'm torn by these posts / the Gong hate.

On the one hand, the LinkedIn posts from Gong reps are.... a little cringe.

On the other hand, Gong IS an awesome product and the company is absolutely crushing it. There's almost no other SaaS company on the planet that is better to sell for, given demand for product, OTEs, and extremely senior + awesome sales leadership.

I get how the LNKD stuff is annoying, but it seems unfair to totally shit on the entire org. The VAST majority of salespeople at Gong are really senior and don't post shit like this.

Seems like the vocal minority drowns out the silent majority kinda thing... but what do I know? (nothing, that's the correct answer at all times).

I genuinely dislike Gongs product, as do most reps I know.

However, I only seriously shit on the LinkedIn brainwashed reps. I’m sure their senior reps know how to actually sell something, at least I’d hope so

So for me it came down to a few reasons:
- I got tons of complaints from prospects about calls being recorded pre-NDA, they didn’t like having to opt in or out every call.
- prospects are much more guarded when being recorded so it’s hard to get as much genuine info
- I don’t like everything I say being recorded
- I am competitive as fuck so I don’t want my coworkers seeing all my tricks
- I’ve seen other teams get micromanaged based on stupid KPIs like filler words and speech pace which otherwise would not matter at all

I think it is mainly an aversion to the concept (don’t think I would like chorus either) but their junior reps just make it SOOO easy to hate both the tech and the company.

I’m sure it’s easy to sell, because every enablement team probably gets rock hard at the thought of it, but I’d be curious to see the renews and adoption rates because (I’m not exaggerating) every rep on every team I have been on had our teams disable Gong for our calls.

So it's less about gong, more about call recording generally that you seem averse to.

Interesting... I found it to be SUPER helpful to rewatch my pitches / pitches from my peers to learn. But I hear you on the competitive part... I don't like others knowing my magic either.
