It tends to be the same 5-10 profiles. There have been some really good posts in the feed recently, which is always great to see especially when coming from new members, but the feed is getting increasingly clogged with clear farming posts.ย

I think that is partially why the downvotes were brought back.ย

I still think part of the problem was the "create your first post for extra commission" during the onboarding process but I think that has been removed?

One of the options floated on the town hall was to remove the weekly leaderboard - or at least de-couple it from total commission gained. Instead, we could possibly tie it to Corp's weekly "top post" reviews and those three are the ones that receive something, kind of like the War Room Oscars in a way. As long as there is a benefit to out-posting others solely based on volume rather than content, there will always be those that take advantage.

I'm all for this! I want to say there are tens of thousands of us in the War Room already but based on the posts and comments, you'd think there were only a couple dozen. Lots of great content overall but each day it gets fluffier and fluffier.

Yup. I think it was very smart in the beginning, especially while pitching for VC funding you need to prove you have engagement & adoption. Now that we have solid engagement, we need to shift towards rewarding QUALITY rather than quantity.ย

How we do that is anybodies guess. But, I think that is the next step to making this a game changing platform.ย

I think step one is an overhaul of the commission structure to no longer incentivize sheer volume.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I think the limiting the number of individual posts per day or per week could be helpful. When you see someone drop 5-10 in a row, you know they're not particularly thought out.

I have a problem writing long replies. It would be better for me to just keep replying to myself, right?ย

Or the "this" "I agree" comments. vs giving the commission in an upvote to the commenter.ย

I think a great metric would be to see a total number of upvotes given as a badge or something.ย

Yeah that is a whole other issue. I really dislike the "this" or "+1" comments, they add no value whatsoever and make comment threads longer than they need to be. I think the downvotes will help with that though?

"This" often gets a ton of upvotes on reddit after cool comments so I think that's why people do it. Just a habit at this point.

Well, "this" isn't some dumb reddit chain. "THIS" is a goddamn sales savage platform!ย

I can't say all, but most of us are grown ass adults. Need to set the childish or broke mindset of "gimmie gimmie" to the curb and start doing some honest work on getting commish.ย

@BigMeechย I feel like the leaderboard should remove the number, but keep the names up. gives "something" to chase, but also gives the thrill of the unknown. IMO

I like the removing the number idea. I think it would stop the hoardes of downvotes for the top performers in the last minute before the week closes.

@funcouponsย i've already seen it since the downvotes were brought back. I can understand someone engaging people who comment on their thread (I do it!) - but clearly someone had a stick up their ass and was targeting someone in particular for it. That shit isn't cool.ย

I have seen very similar posts like this on the rise lately. Glad downvotes came back for this purpose.ย

What do you guys think of new members having to meet a certain threshold before they're allowed to post their own threads? Say, 100 comments on existing threads. Might help educate new people as to the quality of threads people actually participate in and want to see.

Or do you think that would get abused as well?

I think it would put up walls. Some of the newbie questions are quite well thought out, while the same 5-8 spammers are active.ย

We need to keep content on track, but having "the users police themselves" won't work well.ย

With the influx of jr. savages, they may not know the post is a repost, and upvote it. They may not have the same internal compass to upvote comments they reply to either like some of the senior savages on here.ย

I do think there will be a time when the content needs to be policed by community admins, enough to remove posts so we don't get flooded by the rolex farmers.ย

Good point. I think the obvious spammers/farmers need to be given one warning and then booted, honestly. If you're only in here to earn free shit you're better served getting off here, making some calls, and earning some commission to buy whatever stuff you want.ย

I agree @funcoupons. One member confronted another in regards to their spam posting yesterday and the member basically admitted to commission farming as they're trying to get the 1 on 1 with Sahil.ย

When you have members admitting they're abusing the platform, that's when you have a problem. They're not here for what this is meant to be and should be dealt with accordingly.

Maybe some repercussions for the invitee if their invites are shit posters/farmers?ย

Ha I didn't see that one but I have seen threads of people begging for upvotes because they're thisclose to getting the iPad or whatever...so lame.ย

I love the commission idea, but I agree with you that it needs to be revisited because it's just leaving this community ripe with opportunities to abuse.

I'm not too sure about this. I get the idea of like a probation period, but then it also will disengage those newbies that actually have something solid to ask or add value on.ย

I think that could be abused by the "+1" or "This ^" comments, though. TBH I don't so much have issues with most newer members, some of the new posts I have seen have actually been pretty solid. There are just a few farmers on here who clearly are just pushing for either the weekly leaderboard or something from the commish store.

One person posting 6 junk posts a day clogs the thread more than a new member accidentally duplicating an older post. I mean shoot... I have accidentally posted a duplicate before, it happens.ย

Fair point. Tbh some of the obvious farmers are posters who have been around for a few weeks already.

Understandable response, however that is great short term thinking. Why not engage the thought of long term commish structures rather than it being like most companies quarterly commish review and changing the structure when some people are honestly crushing it with good tent?
