Call them back and say "looks like we got disconnected" and launch right back into the conversation.

Yep that's what I do too! I force them to give me an objection.

Why try right then? Seems like there's been a theme of trying to push messaging from people on the WR. I get it that we're in sales and that it's not in our nature to be patient, but if someone hangs up on you...I'm thinking that getting another message from the same dude 30 seconds later isn't always going to magically make it better.

I objection handle at least twice before I'll let the prospect off the hook (unless the first objection is 100% legit.) Hanging up is the first objection, so I will call them back or at least send them a message. And hey, lines do legitimately disconnect sometimes so it would be a shame if I gave up after the first hang up and the prospect was actually interested.

I do not get straight hung up on often at all though and if this is happening to a rep on their regular they need to examine their prospecting/cold calling approach.

Yeah that's fair. Just seemed like some of the messaging I've seen has been an attempt at whit to try and overcome someone who seriously wasn't interested. But in the case of a disconnection...OR trying to make sure that someone absolutely isn't interested (via objection #2) then I can see where this would come in to play.

I rarely get hung up on either and I agree. If it's happening all the time, it's for some glaring reason on the reps end. One of the biggest issues I see is lack of taking initiative at the outset of the call. No confidence + wasting someone's time, early on, usually ends up netting a ring tone.

I get ya. There is such a thing as coming off as desperate and burning a lead forever.

Agreed wholeheartedly with your second point. There are always a couple of pricks who will hang up on the best reps because they have no manners but when I hear most stories about people getting hung up on it's obvious it was the rep's fault.

I’m not really big on calling right back but I could see it being useful if you have the right personality

Always good to send an email right after too. Subject Line: Disconnected? Hey -name-, Not sure if that was intentional or complete accident but I think we might’ve gotten disconnected. Does -insert time- work better for a quick chat?

I call them back and if they don't answer I leave a detailed VM with the reson for my call.

Personally, I don't text unless they are in a later stage conversation with me.

Some people will never respond to a cold call, regardless of who it is or what they're selling. Everyone has their preferred communication line. Find theirs

I like using texting once I’ve built some rapport, for example a guy i was meeting with had a baby and had to miss the meeting so it seemed like texting was more appropriate at the time. I had sent him a Starbucks gift card and wanted to confirm he got it. It actually was very well received.

I'll always call back. Odds are they're still next to their phone and if they don't pick up, leave a voicemail and then send an email after you leave a message
