Someone tell marketing that every one of our competitors offers the Global Leading SaaS solution!

Hey Soldiers,

Are you tired of all that copy that was, you know copied, from every other SaaS vendor around?

I know I am.

Consider this a place to vent about the lack of originality in marketing and share some thoughts or ideas that may be more impactful then the next "Global Leading XYZ Vendor"!

P.S. Way to stay original marketing!

oh man, I'm so guilty of complaining about marketing and not showing any respect... honestly, ever since we hired a real VP of Marketing the team's been working hard. sure, they're spewing nonsense, but hey - at least they're working now!

I get where youโ€™re coming from and I hate marketing for not being original too. However I sell against massively noisy competitors who are market leaders and although not many people admit to it, they wanna buy from โ€œglobal leaders of whatever the fudgeโ€.ย

Well then in my experience, shouldn't they be buying from everyone?ย

If your primary reason for selecting a vendor is because they told you they are the global leader, (meanwhile there are, say, 5 other companies with the same/similar product claiming the same thing), how do you justify a selection at that point?ย

Whichever gorilla banging on his chest the loudest wins this game, IMO. I donโ€™t endorse it, heck I cringe. But I see this happening, nonetheless. Someone should sit with a VP Marketing and ask questions based on their content. Like what about โ€œGlobal leader of xyzโ€ makes you think this is the best content yโ€™all came up with.ย

Yeah understandable. Lack of creativity in this regard seems to be a common trend I guess.ย

It can be frustrating and that is the only marketing line then you have a much bigger problem ๐Ÿ˜‚ย

It's also funny how about 4-5 companies in the same sector have the same logo on their client page..........

Our marketing person who writes our case studies is terrible. We have so many, and theyโ€™re all so bad.ย

Lots of โ€œsignificant impactโ€ โ€œreal valueโ€ with no actual numbers / data points that would compel a prospect to think โ€œthis is like us and I want that.โ€

The person who wrote them in 2018 always has amazing numbers that were really significant. So I send the old ones. Cause new personโ€™s suck.ย

Kicker: old person left marketing for sales.ย

Bigger kicker: our new case study person just got nominated for an award.

ย I understand nothing.ย

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
I remember a few years back at NRF's Big Show (retail industry's biggest conference) that seriously half of the booths had omnichannel prominently displayed somewhere. It was ridiculous and most of the companies didn't actually provide shit for omnichannel.ย

Well there must be something that implicates your preference to give SalesLoft the edge. Could I ask what that might be?

Have you ever sold a product to a client while representing one organization and then switched jobs and had to sell a different product to the same client again?
