Sort of bummed out about how my job is going.

The comp was woefully misrepresented, and the CEO is doing everything he can to keep me happy. Do I express my displeasure? (I think he gets it based on my comp previously earned versus what I am making now) Or do I just move on? I do like the space, and think the company could be more, but I disagree with the internal growth model because they are trying to boot strap rather than take a funding round. We struggle with properly implementing new features and we will get all these new features 80% finished.

Unvoiced expectations end up as unmet expectations.

Be upfront and candid with your CEO and have the conversation. CEOs, as much as they can seem out of touch at times, are truly trying to make things work for everyone.

Totally agree. Sounds like he would want to know your concerns if he is doing what he can to make you happy.

Have a conversation before jumping ship. If the CEO is trying to keep you happy it’s worth a conversation.

If your CEO truly is doing everything he can to keep you happy I would say you almost owe it to him to have that conversation as a courtesy for his efforts.

Who knows, what you have to say might be what he needs to hear to take a new direction. Chances are you're not the only one feeling this way.

I second this. And to go one step further, I'd say you owe it to YOURSELF to give him the chance to make things up to you in a way that works for everyone.

This is a bummer. Write out what you want to say, then take the emotion out of it so you can have a productive conversation with the CEO.

have a polite professional chat with the CEO and take it from there. Not talking about it will only make you more unhappy and possibly lead to resentment when its not needed

Sorry to hear this. They sold you a dream … been there. Honestly if you can move? Do it. Having a conversation won’t change internal structure and make things work to your expectations. I’ve stayed in jobs too long clinging to hope.. like the gambler says ..you gotta know when to hold em . Know when to fold em. Know when to walk away and know when to run away screaming. (Hope this is now in your head all day 😎🎶). People say life is short? But it can feel long af when you’re in the wrong job. Good luck!!!

you should never take funding if you can do without it. talk to your CEO about it, he may tell you to focus on what you can control or he may be candid with you. but you're just going to be unhappy if you keep to yourself. let us know how it goes.

Speak your mind out, reason you are being kept happy shows you have potential. Best way is communicating rather than doing something without willingness and suffering within

Being up front is the only way to find out if this company is a good long term fit or not. Sitting and stewing on it doesn’t help anyone

They cannot fix what they don't know about. It is your responsibility as a sales leader to speak up.

In an eerily similar spot right now. Love the freedom of the role and what we are doing...but the comp ~18 months in is not what I was sold on as attainable within my first year. Like your company..we struggle to implement new features and have some issues that make it a real challenge to not only close but keep larger clients as a result.

Also having sold 1/4 of our active ARR, not really involved much in product discussions, sales strategy moving forward despite kind of changing the game for our company from a sales standpoint. It's an odd spot to be in..so I feel you.

But the Dude continues to abide..
