For those of you who've been longing for my posts and replies, barely able to get through a day without my perspective, I strongly encourage you to get a life.
Otherwise, my normal WR cadence has slowed of late due to some monumental multi-tasking responsibilities. In the last episode of Unforced Fuckery: https://bravado.co/war-room/posts/an-entirely-new-level-of-unforced-fuckery I was dislodged from a role where I was having raging success at levels I hadn't ever achieved.
In just over a nanosecond, I was hired by the biggest customer I brought in this year. I sold him a stack of MarTech he had no idea he needed. Now, the new environment report... and this is the fun part.
New gig is a new role, created for me based on perceived knowledge and skillset. There was no interview, personality assessment, or other kind of colonoscopy. I had earned CEO's trust. He hired me on gut and respect for authenticity in our previous process. He asked me what I needed to earn. I told him. He asked me to justify it by proving projected efficiency upon landing. It netted out, no joke, at a $24 annual increase to bring me in and cut all possible offshore and outsourced fat. We agreed. I went to work.
The org is 105 years old run by 4th generation money folk. They are not operators, and own it openly. They are not technical. They own that too. They needed a modern sales AND marketing model to avoid extinction, and had no idea where to start. So, it's a non startup startup. Lots of people doing lots of things in series of fucking circles. Gotta admit, I do enjoy fixing this kind of shit show. And they're letting me do it with full autonomy, mostly because they're good people, also because they are hopelessly in the dark ages.
I'm six weeks in and while not naive enough to think this is the green pasture I've always been searching for, it is pretty fucking rosey. So far, so good. Dan Goodman report in next post.
