Started interviewing before getting let go, do I bring it up now?

So I started interviewing with a new company for a role a week ago. I had been browsing because lately I had not been getting along with my manager, and was the only remote AE when the new CRO came in. Just started to feel like I was seeing some writing on the wall.

Regardless, this week I was let go, completely unexpected and shocked me, as well as my team. (I know most will read this and call bullshit) but there was no lack of performance or sales from me compared to the rest of the team...

Question here being, should I continue the interview process with this new role by listing the reasons I wasn't happy and planned to leave, or come clean and tell them I was let go.

Its not like my previous employer is going to announce they let me go... but I also am not a huge fan of it feeling deceitful. not to mention if they somehow found out then I'm just left with a "well I did not want to sound desperate?"

Simple explanation. Company doubled down on RTO and as the only remote AE you were laid off.

Do not fall into the mind trap of being up front and transparent with a potential employer when it comes to your candidacy. They hear you were let go and that means they can go 10k lower on the base salary cause you’re more desperate. You aren’t unhappy in your current role, you are looking for an opportunity like this at the next company because it offers whatever is more in line with where you see your career going or whatever bs you need to make up

No matter the circumstances, it isn’t a great idea to list reasons you weren’t happy at your current or previous employer. It’s far better to talk about positives, such as why you are looking forward to a change, and why you want to work for their company. Express your enthusiasm for growing in a new role, what your experience will bring for them, and why you are the best choice.

I also wouldn’t bother bringing up that you are recently unemployed, or even change your LinkedIn. Continue interviewing as though you’re exploring new opportunities, and excited about them.

I was also told but another friend not to update LinkedIn but rather keep interviewing for a while before announcing anything about looking for a new job

That is good advice.

Yeah, I lost out on a great job opp like 5 years ago because one of the folks on the hiring committee didn't like the one negative comment I made about previous leadership. Not worth it. Come up with another reason.

agree, just struggling to have valid responses then when asked why I am looking to leave my current role

You’re looking for a better opportunity- and tailor that to the company with which you’re interviewing. Tell them you are looking forward to working with them, and why.

Agree with the comments, don’t disclose those unless you are asked for. There are companies who don’t want to hire someone laid off as well. Be careful. All the best!

Agree with what's said here, just state that you were let go due to a push back to the office and you were a remote AE, victim of Geography - nothing more nothing less

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldn’t be in for very long. They’re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now I’m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldn’t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.
