How long have you been doing the squat every day approach? I have always been curious on whether or not it works, but never actually known someone who does it.

It's a habit I have carried over from competing. We squatted every day to gain or maintain leg strength as Olympic weightlifters (snatch, clean & jerk). I lifted better if I squatted first, and even though I'm not actively training to compete right now I kind of can't get a workout in without squatting first.

Every day isn't a maxout. I probably go for 90% lifts 1-2 times every 3 months.

Makes sense. I mean shit, a squat definitely warms everything else up so I can see how that helps the rest of the workouts. 4/6 days I start my workout with either a squat or deadlift, but I may incorporate something in to the other two. Maybe power cleans since I do shoulders that day? Haven't decided yet...

I'm always down with more power cleans. Toss in a front squat on days that you're working shoulders and/or back for some nice thoracic back activation.

Just fine—proper warm ups and good mobility/stretching is key. I think skiing hurts my knees more from bumps.

Why do you train legs everyday? Just curious. 💪🏻

A) Habbit from years of competitive weightlifting. B) I race enduro moutain biking, so the stronger the legs the more speed and all-day endurance you will have. Every day isnt heavy load, it varries a lot.

Work usually starts at 8:00 for me with emails and other systems bs. My 3 year old usually wakes me with a swift kick to the groin which acts as a metaphor for the rest of my day dealing with prospects

Get up between 6 am and 7 am.

When I wake up on the earlier end, I go for a run that can range from 15 to 30 minutes depending on the timing because I would need to start my "personals" by 7.

Whenever I wake up, I listen to recorded affirmations that is 14 minutes long because this gets me into the mindset I need to conquer the day.

I also make my bed in the morning for multiple reasons. First is because a made bed looks way better than an unmade bed. If I want an Orderly bad ass life, it starts with making my bed. Secondly, making my bed in the morning gets me my first win of the day and lastly I love the feeling of getting into a made bed after kicking butt all day.

Other parts of my morning routine is that I get hydrated because we sweat so much in our sleep. I do this first thing by drinking the remaining glass of water I prepped before going to bed. Then I have another glass before having some type of nutritional smoothie before making my coffee.

Friday morning I do treat myself usually to breakfast tacos.

I have a few unmentioned routine items but I can't give away all the secrets just yet.

Ha ok a few other items that are part of my morning routine,

I mentioned the affirmations part but to elaborate, I only look at my phone to turn off the alarm and start my affirmations recording. I've been listening to these affirmations for many years and recorded it in my own voice and added some items,  https://youtu.be/v4S2GCBNB3s

Part of my routine is seeing a quote I have written on my mirror "count your blessings, not your troubles." This immediately gets me thinking of gratitude and positives in life.

Towards the end of my morning routine, I walk my dog. While doing that, I listen to motivational speakers and have many saved on YouTube. Some favorite regular speakers that come up are Jim Rohn, Eric Thomas, David Goggins, Jocko, Akira the Don (compiles speakers with music) and motivational compilations.

Not part of the morning routine but happens the night before, I look at my calendar for the day and visualize how the day goes. That way come the morning I already know what the day looks like and get after it right away.

Other notes on my morning routine, I pick out my clothes right away so its ready to go after I finish the personals and walking the dog. Also worth noting, even though we are all remote. I still wear a button down with dress pants. I'm real big on acting as if and feeling how I want to. Dressing up gets me in the mindset of success and leaves a great impression. Rarely I dress casual but this is part of the routine.

Last item to share is that at the beginning of the workday, I make a list of up to 5 main things I want to get done today or started to ensure I'm focusing on key activities to look back on whether today was productive.

I used to be the one waking up at 5am too but honestly, my schedule is really messed up these days.. I wake up anywhere between 6-8am, shower, breakfast and emails - no set routine and I'm really starting to feel it. It's bad and it feels bad.

Need to get back on the horse and start waking up early.

On a side note, I noticed many people say breakfast, coffee, gym, shit, etc even though you asked "after taking care of personals".

I'm curious to know if people ignored that or if they consider all this other stuff to be work.

6:45 walk dogs (usually only 1-3km)
7:45ish fix coffee for wife, tea for me (pre hypertensive from poor diet, gotta limit the salt sugar and caffeine!)
8:15 on subway to Grand Central

I typically get to the office around 8:45, a little before everyone else which allows me to review the to do list I wrote the day before and double check my metrics to make sure I'm on target. Then the usual meetings, emails and phone calls until about 4:45. I'm responsive to emails and phone calls until about 6, even my boss has learned to respect that boundary. I'm active from about 8am-6pm, that's sufficient for everyone.
