Startup Evaluation

Hey Everyone,

Only posted on here a few times and my latest one was leaving the Advertising industry to reset as an SDR to work towards being an SDR manager. Well, I left the job and now looking through options. After talking through with others and evaluating what gets me excited about a company, I want to join a startup to build something from the ground up. Judging from others' posts, this may not be the wisest in some eyes, but fuck it - this is the route I'm taking.

My question to you all is - especially those at a start-up - how did you evaluate the startup? I'm researching them based on product, funding, and current leaders but is there any resources that you found helpful that evaluates a startup?

Thanks

Wishing you the best - love the attitude. Both fox and tank are right - there’s some great material out there to give you that fighting chance at picking the right opportunity.

What Fox and Tank said. Also, Dunbar's number can come into the picture too (only if you want)

I'm at a startup and I really enjoy it. Honestly didn't do a ton of research. I just fit the job description like a glove and the industry makes a lot of sense for my background.

The reality is I just got lucky though, could totally have been full of bad leadership and completely dysfunctional.

Which one would you choose based on the info I provided?
22% Company A - valuation over $2 billion. $250 million in funding
19% Company B - valuation over $700 million. $18 million in funding
54% Valuation and funding don't matter. Just choose which one you'd rather sell
