Stop What You're Doing And Go Support This Guy!

In contrast to the super-douchbagery we all witnessed on LinkedIn yesterday, this guy did it right. He deserves the support!

Come on War Room. Time to show the love!

A sales rep cold called me today.

He botched the ask, and the offering was nowhere near relevant to me.

Here's what I DIDN'T do:
- Belittle him
- Yell
- Hang up
- Tag, name and shame him on LinkedIn

Here's what I DID do:
- Tell him I appreciate the call, but that it's not relevant to me
- Asked him if he wanted some help on his framework
- Spent 10 minutes reworking his tone, framework, and beliefs
- Wish him well and leave him better than before

Obviously, you won't have time do this with everyone, but imagine if folks tried this a couple of times per week.

Thoughts?

I tried to double upvote. I agree that we have to be equally as enthusiastic about good posts as we are about bad ones. Thanks for sharing!

So true. In any industry, it's more common to receive negative feedback to bad behavior/service/product quality than it is to see praise for good things. I have to remind myself of this, too.ย

Same with a movie or a restaurant, see/eat a bad one and tell 10 people not to. Have a good one, tell nobody. Gross

Not enough good out there. I gave an sdr props the other day, his manager posted it, and I got like 500 connection requests from SDRs. It was a little much to be honest. Lol

Call it whatever you want: Generosity, Charity, Grace, Karma, etc...Love? It goes a long way and usually comes back full circle.ย

Generally, for me, I try to be very outspoken with peers and leadership when it comes to openness to feedback. After calls, presentations, etc. I welcome the advice and constructive criticism...the nice part is, those are usually accompanied with affirming words as well. If your mind is in the right place to receive the feedback, then it's a win/win.
