I've been seeing a lot of bitching about this on LI lately. Usually the posts are followed by some unofficial rules outlining what is an acceptable form of soliciting (from someone in marketing typicall). Apparently, it's ok to solicit after playing mind games for a week after connecting and "engaging" on the prospect's posts. Then, you have the greenlight to solicit and pitch, because that's genuine I guess and is totally different than gaslighting someone.
How about let's just quit the foreplay and stop with these dumb games? It's LinkedIn. Yes, I added you so I can solicit you, Deborah. Now shut the fuck up.
If you don't want to be solicited, then don't accept my request. Not saying you're obligated to reply or do anything thereafter, but what use is a networking platform where you're uncomfortable with some "networking" going on?
Rant over.
