Struggle Bus

I am on board the struggle bus for the last 2.5 months. I feel like I am drowning with everything at work and life at once and do not know what to do! I have been watching motivational videos and how to sell videos. Downloaded an inspirational quote app. I feel like I forgot how to do my freaking job!!!! I am desperate to get off the bus!! I need some advice!!

Oh honey nooooo....

Take time off. I'm not talking a day here and there for an extended weekend either. I'm talking a full ass week minimum. Turn off and hide everything work related. Fully unplug.

about 2 weeks ago I took 3 days, but I had a lot of stuff I had to do and ended up running crazy when I had the days off!ย

Sounds like you need a real vacation - a full week off disconnected from work, if not any pressing life tasks as well.

First of, I hear you! It's not easy to be in the pressure cooker of sales. It's hard, your feeling is validated.ย

Secondly I suggest a complete reset:ย

- connect with fresh leads, that never been talked to

-Or even better some of your happy clients. They can remind you why you sell at the first place= your work is helpful to people!!ย

Keep being open about your mental state (even if it's anonymous), sometimes knowing that you are not alone - can be helpful too.ย

Much love to you!!!

Q4 of 2020 I did like 10% of quota and was so depressed. This year Iโ€™m at 95% of quota for the year and itโ€™s July. I realized then that just like in the movie in the blow sometimes youโ€™re flush and sometimes youโ€™re bust. When youโ€™re up it never seems like youโ€™ll be down and when youโ€™re down it never seems like youโ€™ll be up. But life goes on. Go back to the basics and do all the little things you know you should be doing and might not always. Somehow it has a way of figuring itself out.

Just like what everyone else has said, take time off, but also go somewhere you've never been, preferably into the country, away from the hustle and bustle and just chill out. If you can, plan something with friends/partner there as well.ย

I'd like to say take a break, go on vacation, unplug, etc. ย But this is work and we are required to get shit done. ย Sales people aren't paid for effort, we are paid for results. ย I know it's a shitty response but this probably isn't the first time you felt this way and it won't be the last. ย

Maybe getting your vacations? try to get something to work for, even if its just something small, that is going to be a BIG help, or worst case scenario it may be time for a change, maybe a new job or a whole new areaย ย

I would take some time off and try to identify why you feel that way, and see what you can do about it. At times like this a psychologist might help tons!ย

my best advice is be verbal about this with your loved ones, donโ€™t hold this in, at times like this we need to be heard and feel loved.ย

I know how you feel. I think we all have days, weeks, months, years on the struggle bus and thatโ€™s okay. Weโ€™re only human. Getting yourself into a healthy and positive routine with your diet, exercise, sleep, relationships, work, and fun activities and trusting the process is the way to get through this and overall stay happier. Thereโ€™s no secret sauce.ย

In sales, this comes and goes. Staying level is debatably the #1 thing you have to master whether you are at the top or the bottom.ย
My primary go-to when I feel this is way is to make a concentrated effort on my โ€œwhyโ€ or finding a way to get grateful, ASAP!ย
Lack of motivation comes from a lot of different things, and when in sales, it can be poisonous when mixed with dealing with daily rejection.ย
Take time off?โ€ฆ Maybe. But unless you spend that time refocusing on why you do what you doโ€ฆ it will all be for not.ย
Focus on your โ€œwhyโ€, reset your goals and find a way to humble yourself through serving others or giving in a way that you have never done before. Tie each of these back to your success, and how they wouldnโ€™t be possible without it.ย

Then itโ€™s up to you to decide how badly you want it.ย

Take some time off and if able, speak to a therapist/coach.ย  Sometimes you need to spill everything out in a safe environment.ย  Even if it doesn't change your responsibilities, it can give you a blank space to work with when you restart again!ย  Burnout is real.

It seems like you're a BDR.ย  Are you all outbound?ย ย

That explains a lot!ย  My most recent SDR hire was going through the same burnout.ย  Outbound can be extremely brutal but valuable sales experience.ย  Definitely take a breather.ย  I'd also see if it's possible to mix it up with inbound and outbound.ย  It changed the workflow and mentality for the better.ย  I also had the SDR sit with me on disco calls to change up the pace.ย  I'd work talk to your AE and have an honest conversation about it.ย  No one will know what you're going through if you don't speak up.ย  But always, it's a judgement call because you know your team best.

1. You need to take some time off. 2. The pandemic has been tough on everybody, donโ€™t make any drastic decisions until youโ€™re sure your head is in the right place. Do you live anywhere near a beach? The beach works for me.
