Success stories with your product/service

When you are giving use case examples to potential customers, do you use a story that you actually learned about personally? Or do you use a story that was given to use as an example to help sell?


Over time I've gotten pretty good at telling the difference when a salesperson is telling me one vs the other. For me, when they are using a generic example it doesn't tend to have the same emotion and just doesn't resonate the same.

If I have a personal story will always use that, but when I don't I go with the typical use-case story.

Always highlight those in the same space that are having success with your product.Β

I've learned to build "we hear a lot from our current customers that...." or, "often times organizations that face similar struggles as you are telling us...." and I find these to be effective for those generic examples, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm sure I sound more genuine and convincing when I'm sharing a story from first hand experience.Β

I try and use first hand experience stories as much as possible. We also use each other's stories and claim them as our own.
