Swearing, do you do it?

This is a topic I've never seen a good answer to. I've heard some sales people drop an excessive amount that comes accross as cringe worthy. I've also seen people avoid any potential inappropriate language.

Personally because I dress like a boss 99% of the time and I believe a quick "look this ain't fucking easy" or a "its damn shitty spot to be in" can pattern disrupt. And disruption like that breaks barriers.

Curious everyone's thoughts. Am I wrong, is this never professional, or am I missing out by not leveraging this enough?

Do you swear while selling?

Never on client meetings. Colleagues, depends on who I'm speaking to and how friendly I am with them.

Who gives a flying fuck? Swearing is how we cope, just don't do it in front of prospects/clients.

So this was my point of tactical. I had a particularly unenergetic meeting and dropped a "look *pauses* Hiring can be a fucking bitch" (part of our solution increased workforce capacity so less need to hire).

It got the room off-guard got some chuckles and yeah that's true.

Thus the tactical f bomb

Honestly it can be a great way to change up the energy in a room. Obviously use caution and be careful with it

It's not worth my time. Maybe one day you'll see it, maybe not. I do not care.

The eyeopener on just how fucking much I fucking swear, became apparent when I moved from being a fucking AE to being a fucking Director. Holy fuck, that was an uncomfortable fucking transition.

Never on the phones but I have found that my office most people do swear just in normal conversations, never at someone directly.

Depends on who I am talking to. In my day to day i swear probably too much (thanks Entourage).

On calls, if I have good rapport and have a good read on the other person's personality, I'll toss in a well timed "shit" to get a chuckle. Same goes if they swear first.

That's the first thing that should be disclosed, as you say, to not waste each other's time.

Just yesterday I had a recruiter message me on LI asking if I'd be interested in talking about a role. I asked him what the approximate OTE was so nobody's time is wasted and he hasn't gotten back to me

Swearing in the Office

Question

When a lead answers the phone for the first time in history only to scream at me to stop calling my first reaction is to laugh really loud. I don't even think about it.
