Recently, I went from SaaS Sales (6yrs in this space with different companies and sub-industries) and made a change to fintech/construction financing.
There is a lot that is similar to what I was doing selling SaaS but the biggest difference is that there is no set sales cycle. No 30 min disco, demo, POC, negotiation, and close type of motion. It is really just call, learn about their business, how we can help, and then try to get them approved for financing. But with contractors, good luck getting scheduled meetings on the calendar, most calls are while they are driving to a site or in between hammering nails.
My question is, for anyone else who has made a big industry change (or if you are in the construction/fintech space), how was the change for you? Did you regret it and try to get back or love it and been successful? How long did it take you to change your mindset of how things work and get used to the new flow?
