Switching Industries & Hardware to Software

I’ve been selling high tech equipment for manufacturing & automation for 10yrs. I’m in the Bay Area and want to move into the ‘ ‘Bay Area Tech’ space - software/startups. I’ve worked with companies of all sizes, across most/all industries at different levels within organizations.

There are sales strategies that I recognize I’d need to learn - how much of a step back would be reasonable expecting a significant upside a year or two down the line?

*In my current role I; carry an individual quota, manage two managers and my own team of Account Executives - total is 13 people*

I think the skills as a manager are much more transferable than you're giving yourself credit for. Why not find a regional director or area manager role for a software company?

Just remember to apply your sales knowledge to job hunting as well.

Network, reach out to hiring managers, do not rely on online application portals.

Happy hunting!
