Talking sports?

I've observed that when I talk sports with my prospect (considering they're into it), it eases them out and builds a great hook where they get into a happy mindset. They just mellow out and get into the right mindset. Anyone observed it?

I think i depends on the prospect but I never lead with business, always whats up, current problems with there day, upcoming items in there week, day etc

Absolutely. Few things get people spewing like sports so it is a great way to build rapport and make friends. Ironically, I have had a lot of success with fans of rival teams. Some friendly ribbing will make you seem like a real human and not a sales robot just there to get something from them.

Yes this appears to be a good strategy. So glad I follow soccer so that I could keep international clients roped in haha
