Tap water from bathroom?

So I went down under and my trip was amazing. Met a few schools, conducted a few workshops, visited a university and attended the biggest education conference in melbourne. They'll soon ask me about pipeline and I have already created $10k+ (should be adding $40k more over the next couple of weeks).

One thing that didn't go too well was staying hydrated. Gas is $1/liter, beer is $3/can and water was $4/ 300mL at seven-eleven. When I asked for free water in my hotel - they told me that i can fill it from the tap in my bathroom (that's how they fill the water jugs). I JUST COULDN'T DO IT!!! So i ended up a lot of beer and less water down under.

I am always shocked by the lack of free or cheap water anywhere outside of North America.

I went to Austria in June and they only had water in glass bottles and even the “flat” water had a bit of carbonation. I tried drinking water from my hotel taps and it just felt wrong. I’d never do that in my own house!

This drives me crazy as well. Water bottles are wildly cheap, so I'm not sure why hotels are adamant about bringing your own or drinking sink water.
GF and I stayed at the Aria hotel in vegas and came back to the room after drinking way too much. Both of us were dehydrated af, and decided to take two bottles of water out of the mini fridge. Imagine my surprise when I see an extra $90 charge on my bill for TWO bottles of Smart water.

I nearly lost it at checkout last time I was at Aria when I saw that price. Remained calm, got them removed, but holy hell!

Oof, I didn't even think to ask to get them removed. I just took it as an 'idiot tax' and vowed to always bring my own water.

2 day city for me. Go hard and hit the clubs/casinos Fri/Sat and then get home Sunday to deal with the cumulative hangover.

I drink water from my bathroom at home, but that's about it.

Unless I'm in a real bad situation.

I can't believe your hotel wouldn't offer water. But that's what expensing is for.

They did offer it. But I had to go down 20 floors every single time to have a glass. I'm carrying a good water bottle to my next trip for sure

Yea not saying I’m above anything but go get some bottled water and expense that sucker. If finance pushes back, walk them to the restroom, hand them a cup and say “drink away it’s fine!”.

Tap water is not the best but ok in Ireland. But I am always wondering if it’s better or worse than bottled water because that would have microplastics
